I wrote about a copycat blog which had passed off one of my posts without crediting back to source. That was more than fair warning, I think. But the offending post is still up there with no response. So here it is again:

My original post

and

its copy.

Shame on you, Mr ‘Teens to toons’. Do grow up and learn to write something of your own. And in the meantime, at least understand that copycats get caught sometime.

And oh, this may be a public-access blog but at least to its owner, you are definitely not welcome here anymore.

7 idea-filings for “Copycat caught”

  1. 1Nikhil NarayananNo Gravatar

    This is becoming so rampant.
Yahoo! India copied text and images from a Kerala recipe blog.
Then Jo’s photos were used without permission.

Its simply THEFT, the online version of it.

    Sad state of blogosphere.

    Tsk tsk!

Some time ago I was actively following this really amazing, self made photographer from Iceland who is extremely popular on Flickr. You gotta read what she went through – it was ridiculous: http://lin.cr/zj

Hey… that was strong and straight!

Being inspired and influenced with someone’s writing style is one thing that we all do and doing a blatant copy of someone’s writings is for sure an unpardonable crime.

Its good that you have taken this guy on. That will surely pass a clear and loud message to others…

 this stuff makes me so mad – and I see rampant examples even in the mainstream media (we’re not talking about Pritam here but the Times of India and such). Intellectual property has little or no value here and even less, online :(

Apparently, the culprit has now removed the post and credited you. I know its a little too late, but at least he had that bare minimum level of dignity.

Anyways, the only good thing to come out of this is the fact that I got directed to your old post on closure – have to compliment you on that one. It’s excellent!
