I’d rather punish you with my absence than with my presence.
But what happens when I don’t want to punish you anymore? Then it’s time for me to take my punishment, apparently.
And what if I turn around and tell you that,

If you don’t want to punish someone anymore, then I would assume that indifference would have set in. And indifference is the biggest killer of them all. So why punishment for you?

@ DC: Except in this case it isn’t indifference. It’s actually a gift, instead of a punishment - for the other person and for me.
