@ Rookie: UV = ultra-violet. Melanin, the pigment in the skin protects from UV radiation from the sun. That’s why you tan in the sun..its your body’s natural defense mechanism springing up. And the ‘dark people’ have more melanin under their skin than the fairer skinned ones.
