Sorry

September 25, 2006 By: ideasmith Category: Idea ore 3 Comments →

I knew what I had done and I didn’t feel bad. But when I asked him if he hurt and and he did, then I felt something. But it wasn’t remorse.

Sorry

The worst way to be sorry is when you don’t know exactly what you did wrong. Only that it was something you said or did.

A good friend

*Ring*

Hello…

Who sang “You’re beautiful”?

Don’t know.

Ah, James Blunt. Hmph, wasted call.

I’ve been trying to reach you.

How does it feel?

Revenge, huh? Should I be Ms.Nasty again?

I’m just kidding!!

Rigghhhtt…are you ever scared of me?

Just thought you might be busy*chuckle*

You’re impossible!

Says who? I’m extremely possible.

………LOL………

The break-up

He says he will forget me in an instant, oh, that’ll be so easy

And tells me he used to talk about me to his friends all the time

But not anymore; he doesn’t like me that much these days

Then, just before letting go of my hand, he asks that I never forget him.

Sepia tones

“Will you blog about today?” he murmured.

Outside almost curtained windows, a hot afternoon had turned to the kind of evening she’d describe as romantic or dreary depending on who she spent it with. End of day or night being born, depending on who she answered.

Inside, she thought, was like a sepia toned photograph.

Identity

The lone musician

It is really easy to say, “This is who I am” when a lot of people like who you are.

It is not that difficult to say, “This is who I am” when no one likes who you are.

What’s really difficult is to say it when the world is indifferent to who you are.

Salsa with a stranger

September 05, 2006 By: ideasmith Category: Citywatch, Storybook 9 Comments →

Couples floated across the dance floor, flowing over each other.

Someone said, “Up close with a stranger. You sure?”

She said, “I want to learn.” He smiled.

They were the last couple on the floor. Melting into each other. Then the music stopped. She walked off the floor, leaving him standing.

The lesson was over.

An idle mind

October 03, 2005 By: ideasmith Category: Storybook 8 Comments →

At the doorway, Luke was saying “This place deserves a name”

The big guy yawned, “I’m bored”

“I’ll cure that” smirked Luke

“Big brothers are such wise guys!”

“Observe, lazy boy”Luke clapped his hands

“LET THERE BE LIGHT”

“Hey….L!” Big Guy squeaked.
“That’s a name…hell! Here…amuse yourself”

And Lucifer went to paint a signboard.

When I got tagged in the 55-word story thing, I thought “Oh, help”. Having managed a couple though, I’m hooked….it is tremendously satisfying…just the sort of creative challenge I was looking for. Since I’ve already tagged people, I’ll leave this open to whoever wants to pick it up. You know the rules..have fun!

In short…

September 23, 2005 By: ideasmith Category: Storybook 13 Comments →

This was fun. It is even more of a challenge to say something in a few words than to say it in many.

Sagnik tagged me so here goes…my 55-word stories.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Worker
The sun was shining, a blazing yellow-white. Heedlessly they trudged on.
“But do I have to?” he thought. “What if I break the pattern?”
He paused and started walking off in another direction. At a tangent.
Immediately he was swept away by a huge monstrosity that he never even saw coming at him.
“Damn ants”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Wedding

Marigolds floating in water in earthen pots. Bamboo shoots by the door.

She ran a critical eye over them all.
Perfect. Just the way she always wanted.
A perfect wedding to the perfect man.

“Fantastic! You must be so happy.”
“I am” she acknowleged
and moved away before they could say

“Its your turn next”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And I have to pass this on so I tag Sen, Ava and The Lone Rangers
You have to write a story in 55 words. Have fun!
