The last look
Friendship pops up right in your face when on a solitary ramble
Understanding suddenly sparkles in thus far unresponsive eyes
And fun and laughter cosy up to you in a sudden burst of affection
Love twinkles from unlikely corners
while heartache comes to you mixed into a glass of sweet wine
A thread of kinship momentarily pulls at you from behind strangers’ faces
It was a rigorous year. Laughing really hard, running like mad till I was out of breath, bumping headlong into friends, falling flat on my face, the ground giving way beneath me and discovering suddenly…that I could fly!
Plenty happened at work…all good.
I visited a foreign country….it was a memorable experience.
Made a whole lot of new friends. Let go of some old ones. And found some long-lost ones.
I looked for love…and found something else. Or maybe not. And lost it again.
I wrote a lot. As IdeaSmith. As myself. Online. Offline. I even got paid!
And despite everything else, it was a good year. A very good year.
And now to 2006, I’ll say the single most important thing I learnt, the one thing I’ve learnt to say to everyone and everything in my life.
