Wow! Thank you so much for supporting the Real Doctor Reacts to series. I said that if you get the grey's anatomy video to 15k likes I'll do another episode and you CRUSHED it by getting it 200k+ likes. I dove into the comments section to see what medical tv drama you wanted me to review next and it seemed like the good doctor was the obvious choice. Get ready TV Doctors, because Dr. Mike is coming for you =]
Full disclosure, I have never watched an episode of the good doctor on ABC so I decided to go ahead and start my tv medical drama review off with the first episode ( good doctor 1x01 ) of the series. I was really curious myself to see if the good doctor is a medically accurate show.
I really did enjoy this medical tv show because I think it did a lot of things well. It gave an interesting look into what life is like a for a surgeon and a resident. Being a surgical resident is not an easy job and to make the situation even more complex Dr. Sean Murphy has autism so they did a great job of breaking down these circumstances.
I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches The Good Doctor / Real Doctor Reacts to the Good Doctor. If you want me to continue making this tv medical drama series please like the video and leave me a comment on which medical tv show or episode you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

The portrayal of autism here is questionable, but my biggest gripe is WHY DOES HE TALK LIKE THAT? Why does he sound like he has a kazoo stuck up his nose or something.
I am in 2026 and Doctor mike looks so young here
U r very handsome and having a lot respect and also knows how deal with people.... Love from India and mine also a dream of becoming a Doctor
What if the nails rusty doesn’t leaving it in make the rusty-ness/infection worse?
First semester nursing student, doc Mike is my new love. I'm obsessed with all health content i can fine during my free time 😂😂
Is it normal for people with autism, to vision the way he does with body?
Actually it’s not unrealistic- pushing through is exactly what someone one the spectrum would do when they feel passionate about something - they are incredibly determined and will find a way to
that glove is already nast from all the hands reaching into the box they come in
So you wouldn't hire someone who couldn't speak Genuine question.
Nice One
God bless every Nurse
I'm so glad I live in Australia, where all of my medical is free and I can't be sued for trying to save someone's lfe.
We as a viewer enjoyed the show but a surgeon can tell what's wrong lol😂
8:35 yeah i have mild autism, i made my goal to analyse people early in my life, now i can read people.
It's just another distraction as a TV show to keep some people attention in the wrong direction.
This reminds me a bit of "House." Maybe "ER" was another that did correct medical things.
I learned the 'leave the object in the wound, ' a long time ago. I seem to recall packing around it might be good.
8:24 As a doctor, you should know that talking about something you don’t understand can be dangerous.
No, we shouldn’t force autistic children (or adults) to “mimic social cues” by making them suppress autistic traits such as stimming, avoiding eye contact, or masking who they are and the way they are communicating (because “teaching” autistic people to “mimic social cues” isn’t harmless. It often means forcing them to suppress their natural behaviours and hide who they are in order to appear more neurotypical).
That approach you are promoting is often associated with ABA-based practices (or some forms of ABA therapy) aimed at making autistic people, as I mentioned earlier, appear more neurotypical rather than supporting their actual needs. Many autistic adults have spoken about the long-term impact of being taught to constantly mask their natural behaviours, including anxiety, depression, loss of identity, autistic burnout, trauma and severe mental health difficulties. In some cases, these harms can contribute to suicidal thoughts and suicidal behaviours.
The goal shouldn’t be to make autistic people look less autistic. The goal should be to understand them, accommodate their needs, and create environments where they can thrive without having to pretend to be someone else.
Disabled people shouldn’t have to spend their lives adapting themselves to fit society. Society should also adapt to include and support disabled people.
Being a doctor doesn’t make you an expert on autism, especially when you’re not an autism specialist. If you’re not autistic and don’t specialize in autism, maybe listen to autistic people (and studies) before recommending interventions that many of us have spent years explaining can be harmful. Speaking over autistic voices while promoting controversial practices is irresponsible.
From your comments, you don’t seem to be familiar with the extensive criticism of ABA and similar approaches. There are countless testimonies from autistic people, families, specialists and researchers describing the harm caused by forcing autistic people to suppress natural autistic behaviours and constantly mask.
Some behavioural programs have even used aversive methods such as electric shocks. These practices have been condemned by human rights organizations, and institutions using them have been linked to serious abuse and deaths.
You’re also relying on very stereotypical portrayals of autism (this show doesn’t help either in many ways). Autism is an extremely broad spectrum, and many autistic people do not present the specific traits you mentioned. Reducing autism to a handful of clichés only spreads misinformation and makes it harder for many autistic people to be recognized and understood.
“They’re trained to do so”, “more normal”… WOW. Are we really talking about human beings?
I don’t think you fully realize how damaging it is for autistic people to hear their natural behaviours described as things that need to be corrected, hidden or trained away.
And also I don’t think you understand how dangerous the practices you’re promoting can be. (“very promising results”. I don’t know where you’re getting your sources from sir but that’s scary…)
Nice explain
8:39 eye-ronically, i dont like making eye contact, it feels weird.
What if he did not have a needle to release the air regarding pneumothorax, then he would need all this technology? And it makes the scene far more interesting LOL.
Dude i just pull out a nail from my foot immediately it went in, btw the nail was deep in
0:07 "could be a surgeon idk yet"
Dr murphy: I AM A SURGEON!!
I think we should have another doctor review what you review just to be sure😅. Just kidding, your content is wonderfull
That was an excellent show!Freddie Highmore was AMAZING in this role!
I absolutely loathe the way autism is portrayed in this series. Shawn basically has no arc as regards personality.
Dr. Mike, if you are interested, i will positively have a friendly conversation with you about teaching children to mask.
Still, as this is an excellent video.. BEE-WOOP!
Ever realized that all surgeons have poor eyesight 🤓
I have known several family members at various points on the autism spectrum. There are common characteristics but most of the individuals are completely different in how it manifests. One common feature is the reaction to overstimulation, e g auditory, sensory, etc. I felt the depiction of the reaction to overstimulation was realistic.
