  1. I’m mulling this over a bit but this does not seem like very good advice to me. If you are starting or running a business in 2026, please do not just do random things and hope that they eventually work out. Create a plan. You should have goals that are time bound and actionable with strategies and tactics specific to achieving those goals. Absolutely doing the small things every day when building a business is necessary. Marketing is much like investing in that it compounds on itself. It is true that typically unless you are very, very lucky a single action is not going to change your business, so I agree with that part. However, doing the small things every day should be done intentionally with your plan in mind, with your goals in mind, and with your strategies in mind. It should absolutely not be a random hit and hope strategy that some random act of something or another is going to eventually pay off in nine years. Everything you do should be done with intention. This is coming from someone who has been a marketing director for an independent RIA for seven years and has helped them grow to multiple millions in ARR.

  6. The whole "10+ minute videos get boosted by the algorithm" thing really turns me off of a lot of channels. Say what you need to say, then cut. Otherwise, I'm out. 3.5 minutes in and I still don't know what you're talking about. Bye.

  7. Patience is key💯

  14. I currently own a business in another industry but am looking at making a career change after 20 years. Knowing that the first few years as an advisor is a grind (as with any business), what kind of runway would you say would be needed? Would I need to have a couple years of expenses set aside as an emergency fund or would you try to juggle both businesses until the FA part takes off? What would you say would be the best way to make a transition?

As a "new" financial advisor, I can say this is spot on. I am slowly starting to see the small wins with connecting with great people and building a network. It takes time... lots.
